IsaiX is a Montreal based technology company that has developed and delivered its unique combination of learning experiences, tools, and proprietary technologies to leading organizations and global brands in the USA, Canada and United Kingdom. These include professional services in the government, high-technology, pharmaceutical, and financial services sectors.
IsaiX started its relationship with Net Solutions in 2010 with outsourcing of one of their other flagship products: Burst Tools®, which is a document publishing and content-consumption solution that makes the learning experience more engaging for employees of an organization. This engagement turned out to be very satisfying and profitable for both IsaiX and Net Solutions, ultimately leading to IsaiX outsourcing their key Flagship product: Coach Technology®.
Coach Technology® was already being used by large enterprises and federal government departments in Canada but the product was built several years ago. It was only a desktop application at that point, written in classic ASP, and the application was facing huge issues because it was no longer scalable.
IsaiX wanted to rebuild their entire application from scratch with a scalable multi-tenant architecture that delivers better performance and is more secure. The company also wanted to develop a mobile experience, considering the recent increased acceptance for mobility devices in enterprise specialty tablets.
Process and Engagement Model
Since building Coach Technology® involved working from scratch in a continuous delivery mode, the IsaiX team was clear from day one that hiring a dedicated team of Software Architects, Designers, and Engineers would be a better engagement model than anything else.
A team led by a Product Owner from our side was formed, closely working with a Product Owner from IsaiX's side following AGILE and Scrum Methodology with daily progress meetings between internal team members at Net Solutions and IsaiX Product Owner Kanwar Singh, who understood complete workflows of the Coach Technology® product inside and out.
Collaboration and Communication
Project collaboration was done using Basecamp and Jira. All project communication was done using e-mail, GoToMeeting and Skype. This was augmented by timely visits from IsaiX team members Kanwar Singh (Project Manager) and Daniel Wolfe (Director of Research & Development).
Mobile development was done on native iOS, as the product was to be developed for iPads only.
